Chapter 27 - THE PROPOSAL AGAIN
Lena was twenty-one when she jokingly announced that Lorenzo should propose again.
“Why?”
“Because your first proposal was witnessed by a six-year-old.”
Lorenzo laughed.
“That seems reasonable.”
So one evening, he took me back to the chapel.
The bronze key still hung from the ribbon in my jewelry box.
He placed it on the table.
“Do you remember?”
“Every detail.”
He took my hand.
“I know we're already married.”
“Yes.”
“I know we've built a life.”
“Yes.”
“But I want to ask again.”
He knelt.
“Would you choose me today?”
I started crying.
“Yes.”
He smiled.
“Good.”
Then Lena appeared from behind the door.
“I knew it!”
We laughed.
Lorenzo stood.
“Were you spying?”
“Absolutely.”
She hugged both of us.

Now it held one of our happiest memories.
