Chapter 22 - THE FIRST THANK-YOU
Marcus received an unexpected letter from a former employee.
The woman wrote that her medical claim had been denied during the same period Olivia's had.
After the scandal broke, her case was reopened.
She received treatment.
Her family kept their home.
At the bottom of the letter, she wrote:
“I don't know why you decided to fight for us. But because you did, my children still have their mother.”
Marcus read it quietly.
Then he gave the letter to Olivia.
She finished reading and wiped her eyes.
“There are probably thousands like her.”
“There were.”
Marcus looked out the window.
“That ends now.”
He created a permanent employee protection division within the company, independent from management.
No executive could interfere with medical claims again.
Maya watched him sign the final paperwork.
“You're changing the company.”
Marcus nodded.
“I'm trying.”
“No.”
