Chapter 13 - BROTHER AGAINST SISTER

Evan called Margaret himself.
“No games.”
His voice was calm.
“Come to the old freight terminal.”
Margaret looked at Nathan.
“I’m coming with her.”
Evan laughed.
“Of course you are.”
The old Whitmore freight terminal had been abandoned for a decade.
Richard waited inside.
So did Dominic.
Evan stood between them.
Samuel was tied to a chair.
Margaret saw her father for the first time in thirty-eight years.
His hair was white.
The left side of his face carried burn scars.
But his eyes were hers.
“Little bird.”
Margaret stopped moving.
Tears filled her eyes.
Samuel smiled.
“You got old.”
Margaret laughed through tears.
“So did you.”
Dominic interrupted.
“Beautiful.”
“Now let’s discuss ownership.”
Nathan stepped forward.
“Release Samuel.”
Richard shook his head.
“After the vote.”
Evan looked at Margaret.
“You activated my inheritance.”
“Your inheritance?”
“You heard me.”
Margaret stared at him.
“You’re my brother.”
Evan’s expression flickered.
“So Samuel finally left enough clues.”
Samuel spoke.
“Evan.”
“Don’t.”
Evan turned.
“You don’t get to call me that.”
Samuel looked broken.
“I tried to find you.”
“For how many years?”
Richard answered.
“He didn’t.”
Samuel glared at him.
Richard smiled.
“I raised the boy Samuel abandoned.”
Margaret looked at Evan.
“Richard isn’t your father.”
“He was there.”
Evan’s voice hardened.
“That matters more.”
Samuel closed his eyes.
Nathan understood.
Richard had not merely hidden Evan’s identity.
He had raised Samuel’s son to hate Samuel.
Dominic placed documents on a table.
“Margaret signs half the trust voting rights to Evan.”
“Then everyone leaves alive.”
Margaret looked at the pages.
“No.”
Dominic smiled.
“Then Samuel dies.”
Nathan took one step forward.
Several armed guards raised weapons.
Samuel suddenly laughed.
Everyone turned toward him.
Dominic frowned.
“What?”
Samuel looked at Margaret.
“I spent thirty-eight years keeping you alive.”
“Don’t ruin it now by becoming stupid.”
Margaret smiled through tears.
“That sounds like my father.”
Then Samuel kicked the chair backward.
The impact triggered something beneath his coat.
Smoke exploded across the terminal.
Nathan grabbed Margaret.
Aaron’s team moved.
Lights shattered.
Men shouted.
When the smoke cleared, Dominic was gone.
Richard was wounded.
Evan had disappeared.
Samuel was alive.
Margaret cut his restraints.
Father and daughter stood face to face.
Then Margaret slapped him.
Samuel blinked.
“That was for thirty-eight years.”
Then she hugged him.
“That was for being alive.”
Nathan turned toward Richard.
His uncle sat against a crate holding his bleeding leg.
“You lost.”
Richard smiled weakly.
“No.”
Nathan’s stomach tightened.
Richard pointed toward the terminal exit.
“Ask Samuel why Eleanor really died.”
Samuel’s face changed.
Margaret slowly released him.
Nathan looked at Samuel.
“My mother had cancer.”
Samuel said nothing.
Richard smiled.
“That’s what they told you.”
Nathan’s voice dropped.
“Samuel.”
Samuel looked away.
May you like
Richard whispered.
“Eleanor was poisoned.”
